Harless Scores Northwest Focus Midget Race At Southern Oregon
By Ben Deatherage
White City, Oregon- The Northwest Focus Midget Series was on hand Wednesday, June 12th, to complement the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series at Southern Oregon Speedway.  The group will be the companion division for the first four nights of the NARC-sanctioned Fastest Five Days In Motorsports.  Fourteen entries made the journey to the 3/8-mile clay oval.

As the race commenced, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation. Bellingham, Washington’s Jonathan Jorgenson shot out to the front of the pack, setting a blistering pace. By the eighth lap, he was already facing lapped traffic. However, the field slowed down on the tenth circuit, erasing his massive advantage and setting the stage for a thrilling battle.

When things got back underway, Nick Evans from Granite Falls, Washington, began to challenge.  Evans became the new leader by after performing a sweeping pass on the inside of turn four on lap fourteen.  Unfortunately, five trips past the flag stand later, Evans would run into mechanical issues that would force him to retire early.

That gave Levi Harless the top position.  The Arlington, Washington driver would dominate the rest of the twenty-five-lap feature to score the big win in front of a packed house.  Ashley Thompson, also from Arlington, was the runner-up, followed by Chad Kincaid of Bothell, Washington, in third.  Vernonia’s Doug Davenport was the lone Oregonian in the Top 5 with his fourth-place result.  Brad Pritchard, representing Sedro-Woolley, Washington, was fifth at the line.
