Trenchard Wins Roger Haudenschild Memorial

White City, Oregon (September 1st, 2024)—Nick Trenchard performed a thrilling overtake in the race's second half to score the $2,500.00 victory at the Roger Haudenschild Memorial at Southern Oregon Speedway. Aboard the Biehn Racing entry, the Klamath Falls driver won for the fifth time in the season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region and the first time in 2024 at the track.
Mark Wauge and Jacob Mallet Jr. engaged in a fierce battle for first place in the early stages. Wauge initially crossed the line first, but Mallet's daring move on the inside of the backstretch and into turn three put him in the lead.
It would be a shortly lived stay in the top spot for the young Californian as Wauge got back around him out of the fourth corner. The veteran pilot, Wauge, tried pulling away, but Trenchard started entering the scene with a dozen down.
Wauge and Trenchard began to battle, but Curtis Towns joined the fray to create a three-race tussle for the win. Towns got around both racers on lap fourteen while the race for second hung in the balance.
Despite Wauge's unfortunate early exit due to mechanical issues, Trenchard's determination to chase down Towns was a testament to his skill and resilience. He caught up with Towns on the eighteenth lap and executed a winning pass on lap twenty.
Towns and Mallet were second and third.
Ethan Killingsworth swept the weekend in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods with his $1,500.00 score on Sunday.
Brian Poppa kicked the party off early on the first lap but soon would feel some pressure from Cory Biggs. After a lap five stoppage, fifth-starting Killingsworth got an excellent run and got into the race lead the next time around.
Dealing with a few restarts later on, the Yreka, California competitor would check out, have no issues with traffic, and won his twelfth win on the year and five times at SOS.
Jeffrey Hudson got into second around lap eight and would hold back all challengers to hold on to the spot. Trevor Points finished third.
Also in action were the Tri-State Pro Stock Series and Sport Compacts. Jeffrey Hudson and Bryce Barnes were the winners.
The main event of the Tri-State Pro Stock Series was a caution-plagued affair but would be a wild finish. Paul Miller took control of things early before fellow Californian Chris Smith got around him with a dozen laps in. After several stoppages, the race would be decided on a green-white-checkered finish.
On the restart, the Keno native Hudson found a way around Smith for the lead and came to the white flag for the win.
Chris Smith was second, and Rich Cobb was third.
Medford motorist Barnes dominated the Sport Compact feature, leading the entire distance and withstanding a late race challenge.
David Medeiros and Craig Johnson were the rest of the podium in second and third.
